5 Cheap Ways to Keep Your Skin Hydrated This Winter

Keeping your skin hydrated is incredibly important during the winter months, especially since the cold air and wind can suck all of the moisture out of you. While cosmetic companies may try to tell you that you need to spend a whole month’s pay check to keep your skin glowing, you can actually do it relatively cheaply. Here are five simple and inexpensive (or free) ways to keep your skin looking glowing this winter.

Stay Hydrated

Don’t forgo hydration during the winter just because it is cold outside. Your body needs the same amount of liquid during the cold months as it does when it is warm out, so make sure you drink up to keep your skin looking fresh.

Use Chapstick

This may seem like a no-brainer, especially to those who suffer with dry, cracked lips. However, it’s a great idea to keep lip balm with you at all times to ensure your lips stay moisturized. While this doesn’t necessarily extend to your skin, it does ensure your lips are still kissable.

Wash in Lukewarm Water

The temptation to bathe in the hottest water possible during the winter is definitely real, but this can strip your skin of some of its natural oils. Use lukewarm water for probably areas specifically, as this will help keep your skin moist, hydrated and glowing. If you wash your face at night, be sure not to turn the water on too hot.

Avoid Skincare Products with Alcohol

Lots of skincare products contain alcohol, as it can help dry out the skin. This is great for those suffering from acne, but not so awesome for those trying to avoid dry skin.

Use a Humidifier

The heat in your home or office may keep you warm and toasty, but it can also dry out your skin pretty badly. Using a humidifier can help keep your skin, and the air, moist.
