For Matthew McConaughey’s birthday, he didn’t want to just receive presents, instead he wanted to give them. The actor recently partnered with Wild Turkey Distillery to participate in a campaign called “Wild Turkey Gives Back.”
Ahead of the November 23 Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, where turkey is traditionally eaten, Matthew McConaughey surprised 4,500 people of the town of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky with free frozen turkeys.
The turkeys were donated by Butterball, and were a total surprise to people from all around the town.
Matthew McConaughey delivered the turkeys with the aid of 250 volunteers, to several neighborhoods all around the town as the spokesperson for Wild Turkey Distillery.
The actor shared two Facebook Live events on his official page so that fans could see him meet and greet the denizens of Lawrenceburg.
In his first video, Matthew McConaughey surprises the staff of Wild Turkey Distillery who have no idea he’s joining them on their campaign that day. The were incredibly excited to see him gearing up to do a good deed. The actor mentioned that he was celebrating his 48th birthday and was excited to be giving back.
“Thanksgiving, gratitude, we believe in our family that the more you’re thankful for, the more that you show gratification, the more that you’re gonna create in your life to be thankful for,” he told the employees of the distillery.
The second video Matthew McConaughey shared on Facebook was a video of him knocking on a door to find a club of women. When he asked what they called themselves, one of them piped up with, “The Hot Mamas,” to the laughter of the crew and the other women present.
The Hot Mamas had a blast meeting and talking to the movie star, and even posed for photos with him. Of course, they also appreciated the free turkey and one item to check off ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday feast.
